Safeguarding at OGPS

At OGPS, everyone is responsible for child protection and safeguarding.

We have four members of staff trained as Designated Safeguarding Leaders to ensure there is always a member of staff available to deal with any referrals that are made.

Mrs McAndrew (Assistant Headteacher) is the Designated Safeguarding Leader (DSL) for Child Protection & Safeguarding. In her absence, you are able to speak to Mrs Dean (Deputy Headteacher), Mr Simmons (Headteacher) or Mrs Amui (Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion).

If you have any safeguarding concerns, please contact any of the above named people through the school office.

Our Governors with responsibility for safeguarding are Mr Himesh Patel, Mr Hemal Davda & Mrs Fouzia Khan.

The Prevent Duty

The Department of Education has asked schools to help them safeguard pupils from the risks of extremism and radicalisation. Schools must have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. The Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher (DSL) have both attended WRAP CPD which has been cascaded to all staff. The staff team have also had WRAP CPD.

FGM Duty

Our staff team have been trained by our DSL so they know the procedures for reporting disclosures or concerns regarding FGM. This is part of our Safeguarding Policy.
