"Thinking, Doing, Talking Science" (TDTS)
On Wednesday 20th September 2017, we welcomed Sir Peter Gershon (Chairman of National Grid & Tate & Lyle), Sir Kevan Collins (EEF CEO), Catherine Aldridge (National Project Coordinator) & Jill Trevethan (PGCE Science Tutor at IoE/UCL) to OGPS.
They met with the Headteacher, Science Leader and Year 5 teachers to hear more about the project in action at a school level. They visited our two year five classes to see a science lesson which would highlight pedagogical approaches from the TDTS project. They saw the children focussing on investigative skills linked to friction. The classes had to respond to the “marble challenge” in which they used their knowledge about friction to make the marble move at the slowest rate possible!
